WASHINGTON, Ill. -- A local volunteer group is hoping to restore countless photos damaged in the November tornadoes.

The Illinois Photo Restoration Group was at St. Marks Church in Washington Saturday afternoon, helping recover lost memories for tornado victims.

Organizers said they processed more than 200 photos just Saturday.

With programs like photo-shop, volunteers are able to fully restore damaged pictures into digital images.

"Mostly everybody here is either professional or a hobby photographer," said event co-chair, Eric Trent. "It was our way to be able to help them in a unique way and preserve their memories."

"This was a very special picture, and this represents a very special time in our life, said tornado victim," Cami Avis. "I said that I really need this picture back."

The restoration group plans on holding another restoration session in March.
