WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Despite reports that the United States economy is picking up speed, over half of Americans surveyed believe the country is currently in a recession.
The Rasmussen Consumer Index dipped three points on Thursday to 97.1, down a point from a week ago, little changed from a month ago, but up four points from three months ago.
Just 29 percent of those surveyed do not think the United States is in a recession.
Among investors, 51 percent say the nation's economy is in a recession, but 35 percent don't believe that to be true.
