NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. -- Would you rummage through the garbage for a lost dollar? How about a lost million dollars?

That is just what one Massachusetts couple did after their lottery ticket was accidentally tossed into the garbage.

Joseph Zagami and his wife Joanne purchased the $5 scratch off ticket from a vending machine while grocery shopping.

They tucked the ticket into one of the grocery bags and forgot all about it.

The following day, they realized they never scratched the ticket and could not find it.

Joseph finally found the ticket in the trash.

Good thing too, it turned out to be a $1 million winner!

The couple chose to receive a one-time, lump sum payment of $650,000.

They said they plan to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and other bills, help family and hopefully take a trip.
