SPOKANE, Wash. -- Mike Boyer was thrilled to be first in line at the Spokane Green Leaf store when sales began.

But when Mike's boss saw him on the news buying marijuana, he was ordered to take a drug test.

Boyer didn't take it, because he knew he'd fail. And he was fired.

His employer has since reinstated him, saying they know pot is legal and since Boyer wasn't on assignment at the time he smoked marijuana, the firing was a mistake.

Recreational marijuana is now legal in Washington state, but that doesn't mean all employers approve of it.

"I'd really like to find an 'in' on this marijuana industry. Give me a chance doing that,” said Boyer. “I think I could turn my professionalism, and customer service, and just general knowledge of that industry and I think I could be a good asset for that. I'd really like to jump into this industry now."

Boyer hopes the attention he's gotten will help him land a job in the marijuana growing business.
