SPRINGFILED, IL. -- Tuesday was "Ag Day" at the Illinois
State Fair, celebrating all things agricultural.

Governor Pat Quinn signed four bills into laws to support the state's agriculture industry and a fifth honoring John Block, the Knox County farmer who went on to become State Agriculture Director and then, under President Reagan, the U.S. Agriculture Secretary.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture's Administration Office will be named after Block.

"He is the essence of what a citizen is all about. he served his economy and his community by farming, when he was called to Springfield as a public servant, he did a great job, and when he was called to serve our whole country, he did a great job," said Gov. Quinn.

The bill honoring John Block was sponsored by Peoria Senator Darin LaHood and Representative Don Moffit.
