PEORIA, Ill -- With only five days left until the election, candidates are making the final campaign push.

This evening several area democratic candidates, their staff, and supporters came together for a "get out the vote" rally.

The purpose is to encourage everyone who can to vote this Tuesday.

"I think democracy works best when you have full participation,” said State Senator Dave Koehler. “If you want to be able to complain and make your opinions known the best way to do that is do it at the ballot box."

Among the candidates in attendance was democrat Cheri Bustos. She is running for the US Congress in the 17th district.

Bustos says she wants to go to Washington to make a difference for middle class families.

"If you value education, if you value the importance of having medicare, if you value the importance of making sure social security is sound, then I'm your candidate,” said Bustos. “If you are a millionaire, then vote for Bobby Schilling, 'cause that's who he is fighting hard for."

Friday, we'll hear from Bustos' republican opponent Bobby Schilling, who will be campaigning in Pekin and Peoria.
