NORMAL, Ill. -- Tuesday is expected to be the last day on the job for Normal Councilman Jason Chambers.
Chambers is running unopposed for the McLean County State's Attorney seat this fall.
Eariler this month, current State's Attorney Ron Dozier announced he was retiring in October, just ahead of the November elections.
According to the Pantagraph, Dozier and Chambers have been in contact about starting an early transition.
That led Chambers to announce that he would step down from the council Tuesday.
Chambers has said he wanted to step down early so Mayor Chris Koos wouldn't have to pick a replacement in the middle of election season.
