Chicago financier denies responsibility for Schock ads

CHICAGO -- According to the political websites, "Capitolfax" and "Crane's Chicago business", Chicago financier Bruce Rauner is denying he is responsible for those anti-Aaron Schock TV ads.

The ads take Schock to task for voting to raise taxes on people making more than $400,000 and for voting to raise the debt ceiling in 2011.

Schock's chief of staff named millionaire Bruce Rauner as a likely backer for the ads. Now, Rauner says it wasn't him.

Crane's columnist Greg Hinz suggests maybe it's Dan Rutherford, or Americans for Limited Government, which said Schock's fiscal cliff vote might bring him a primary challenge in 2014.
