MOLINE, Ill. -- A local democratic congressional candidate's campaign office is the target of vandalism.
A spokesperson for the Cheri Bustos campaign, says sometime between 1 and 8 AM Friday morning. Someone egged the front of her Moline office and an employee's car.
No one was inside the building. Police are investigating. Bustos is running in the 17th congressional district, which includes parts of central Illinois.
That spokesman says she and her staff were shocked by the vandalism, adding they have never had trouble at that, or any other campaign office.
On Saturday Bustos' opponent, Republican Congressman Bobby Schilling released a statement about the incident reading, "This type of illegal activity is wrong, and we won't stand for it. We're focused on running a campaign based on the issues that matter to Illinois voters-creating jobs, balancing the budget, leading by example, and putting people first over politics."
