PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria County Administrator said the county's financial situation is secure.

On Wednesday morning, Lori Curtis Luther gave the annual State of the County Address to board members and local business leaders.

She said the $128 million balanced budget for this year was not easy to achieve but it is one of her proudest accomplishments.

"I think our citizens can be very proud of the fact that we've maintained service levels, not increased their taxes and that expenses overall went up only half a percent,” she said.

Curtis Luther said she is also proud of the steps the county has taken to create new businesses and open opportunities for women and minority-owned companies.
