PONTIAC, Ill. -- State Treasurer Dan Rutherford has conceded that he has lost the republican gubernatorial primary election.

Rutherford addressed the media just after the polls closed Tuesday saying “Dan Rutherford is not going away”.

Rutherford had posted an update to his website, DanRutherford.org, earlier in the day titled “Dan Rutherford preparing Governor bid 2014”.

In this post, Rutherford stated “A final announcement about 2014, made by my family and me, will be forthcoming. I ask you to help with our campaign effort.”

The post included links to donation sites.

Rutherford declined to talk to the media when he voted earlier today in Livingston County.
