Bloomington Democrat Dr. David Gill Friday officially conceded the election to Republican Rodney Davis.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, Gill said that while the 1300 vote difference between himself and Davis demanded he check outstanding provisional and absentee ballots, it became clear there were not enough uncounted ballots remaining to wipe out the deficit he faced.

Gill said he hoped Rodney Davis would "seek ways to compromise and support the President."

For his part, Rodney Davis thanked "David Gill for the passion with which he campaigned."

Neither man received a majority of the votes cast since independent candidate John Hartman got 7% of the total vote.
