EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The state of Illinois is providing East Peoria School District 86 with $17.4 million as part of the Illinois Jobs Now! capital program.
The state’s funding will be matched by a local share of more than $13 million.
The funds will be used to reimburse the district for projects that have already been completed.
Those projects include the construction of the one-story, three-classroom addition to the Central Junior High School for 180 students in grades 6 - 8; construction of the three-story, 42-classroom addition to the Central Junior High School for 887 students in grades 6 - 8; and, the construction of the one-story, six-classroom addition to the Armstrong School for 166 students in grades K - 2.
The school had been on a waiting list for committed state funds since 2003.
