McCoy became well known in local politics in 2008 when he lead Pontiac through the flood of 2008 and when he took on Governor Blagojevich in a fight to save the Pontiac Correctional Center from closure - keeping hundreds of Central Illinois jobs.
McCoy said even though he'd rather be running his small business and spending time with family, he's running because he's frustrated with the poitics in this state and country and he's ready to do something about it.
McCoy will focus on Illinois' public schools funding, creating a more business-friendly climate, and giving a focus to local businesses by removing government involvement.
