PEORIA, Ill -- After a bi-partisan effort Governor Pat Quinn (D) signed legislation Tuesday extending what he calls a top economic development tool in the state.
The new law extends the enterprise zone program in Illinois for another 25 years.
Along with creating an enterprise zone board to increase transparency, Governor Quinn said the new law creates certainty and stability for businesses.
"We've got to be very agile and nimble in a world economy. We've got to make sure our workers are well-trained and well-educated, very, very important. We've got to make sure our businesses have all the tools they need to have in order to create jobs, maintain jobs," said Governor Quinn.
Representative Mike Unes (R) said the program is good for the area and has proven results.
