SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- A hearing has been scheduled for mid-September for a lawsuit over Governor Pat Quinn's decision to cut legislators' pay.

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton filed the lawsuit against Quinn, alleging the veto power he used last month to suspend lawmakers' pay was unconstitutional.

The lawsuit also named state Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, who issues the paychecks.

The September 18 hearing date means lawmakers could go another month without pay if a solution to pension reform is not found.
