On Friday, hundreds of Illinois Construction Projects could begin shutting down if funding is not negotiated in Springfield.
Josh Kauffman, a spokesperson for IDOT had this to say about Friday's decision.
"Unless lawmakers make significant progress towards the approval of a capital appropriations bill by June 17, IDOT will begin working with contractors on a phased shutdown of projects to be complete by June 30. The agency would coordinate a systematic, effective and safe shutdown with contractors and will continue to keep the public informed through the transition."
Governor Pat Quinn did meet today with legislative leaders on the capital construction bill. No agreement was reached, the general assembly is expected to recovene next Wednesday to discuss the matter.
