SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Illinois House has approved a bill requiring the state to only purchase American made cars for the state fleet.

The legislation is designed to help stimulate the American economy.

The bill does not exclude foreign cars, as long as they are assembled here in the U.S.

There are three auto manufacturing plants in Illinois, including a Mitsubishi plant in Normal.
