ELGIN, Ill. -- State Representative Keith Farnam of Elgin has resigned, one day after the primary election.

Representative Farnham cited health issues. However his home and Springfield offices were raided last week by federal immigration and custom's enforcement officials.

Government officials have not disclosed why Farnham is under investigation and Farnham said all questions would be sent to a criminal attorney.

His resignation is effective immediately.
