PEORIA,Ill-- State Senator Dave Koehler says the only poll that matters among voters is the upcoming November election.
He is responding to a claim by his Republican opponent Pat Sullivan, who says that the two candidates are running neck-and-neck for the 46th District Seat.
Koehler says the story is not about polls but about issues and tough decisions the state has made to try and get out of debt.
"If you want leadership like we see in Congress where you send people just to vote no on everything then you see what you get. I'm not gonna be that kind of legislator. I'm gonna vote what I think is right for my district, for all people," he said.
"It's not cuts, he added $7 billion off the taxpayers back, the workers and the businesses and that was promised to go in and pay the debt. It didn't and so that's what people are upset about," said Republican Challenger Pat Sullivan.
Sullivan adds the state continues to overspend. He says it's wrong to overspend and try to blame it on previous administrations.
