LaHood discusses future plans

PEORIA, Il. -- Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood may continue in his role for at least a little while longer.

The former Peoria Republican Congressman and current Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood spoke at Peoria's Rotary Club meeting Friday.

He is currently the only republican in President Obama's cabinet.

Secretary Lahood says he and the president will discuss his future after the new year.

"I've had one meeting with the president, after the election, he and I talked about the future and we're going to continue our discussion after the first of the year and we'll see where it takes us, LaHood,

Secretary Lahood says in the meantime... He is confident the president and speaker John Boehner will reach a compromise to avoid the fiscal cliff before the new year.
