Peoria: Governor Pat Quinn has not responded to pleas by local legislators to restore Humana and Health Alliance as HMO alternatives, Representative. David Leitch (R - Peoria) said Tuesday.
Leitch issued a statement saying : “If the governor had attended our hearing two weeks ago, or listened to recordings of the testimony, maybe he would listen,” “The retirees, especially those with cancer, are in turmoil. They are afraid and do not want to have to look for new doctors and caregivers; they also worry about more expensive insurance.”
Illinois legislators heard testimony from constituants at the Illinois Central College North Campus.
Legislators also presented a letter to Quinn’s office which sharply condemned the process and decision to award one HMO contract to Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Chicago and 38 northern counties.
About 4,700 residents are covered by a Blue Cross/Blue Shield contract at Methodist.
Remaining central and southern counties will have no HMO option.
