CHICAGO, Ill. -- Attorney General Lisa Madigan will not run for governor, she said, because her father remains the powerful Illinois House Speaker.
Lisa Madigan released a statement Monday afternoon saying she would run for re-election as Illinois Attorney General.
While she said he loved her job, she also said her decision was predicated on the fact that “the state would not be well served by having a governor and speaker of the house from the same family”.
Madigan's decision not to run could create some shuffling in the plans of other politicians.
It almost assures that Democrat Bill Daley will continue his efforts to defeat Pat Quinn in the Democratic primary.
