Matt Goetten conceded Friday to Dr. David Gill in the Democratic Primary for Congress in Illinois' 13th District.

Gill was certified by the State Board of Elections as the winner of the March 20th race by 163 votes.

Goetten said in a press release that he was honored to learn the support of thousands of people across Central Illinois. He also wished Gill the best of luck in taking on the "Republican's failed agenda".

Gill will face a yet to be announced Republican candidate. Congressman Tim Johnson won the Republican nomination for the 13th District and then announced this month he was retiring from Congress.

Six people have expressed interest in being the Republican candidate.
