Medical Marijuana rules released for public review

April 18, 2014 Updated Apr 18, 2014 at 5:56 PM CDT

SPRINGFIELD, Ill -- New rules made public Friday for the state's new medical marijuana program have some gun owners celebrating.

When medical marijuana was legalized in July, one proposed rule said gun owners would not be eligible for medical marijuana. That language has since been removed.

The list did include a 100 dollar annual fee for a medical marijuana card, and rules for businesses looking to grow the drug.

The public has 45 days to comment on the draft rules.
