SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Another associate of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was sent to prison Tuesday.
"Lon" Monk had been the Chief of Staff for the ousted Governor, but before that, he had been a close college friend, as well as the man who ran both election campaigns for Blagojevich.
Tuesday, Judge James Zagle sent Monk to prison for two years and ordered him to pay $7,500 in fines.
Monk had plead guilty to wire fraud and testified at both of Blagojevich's trials.
Earlier, Monk said he was sorry for what he had done and hoped to come back from prison a better man.
