WASHINGTON, D.C. --It is day four of the partial shutdown of the Federal Government.
There was a protest outside the capitol on Friday, where House Republicans said they want negotiations with Democrats.
“It's time now for the Senate to take up bills the House has passed to open the Veteran's Affairs portion of the government, our parks and recreational property and other portions of the government we think are necessary,” said Representative Aaron Schock, (R) 18th District.
"The first three things that came over said you can restart the government if you shut down Obamacare or shut down a large portion of the Affordable Care Act,” said Senator Dick Durbin, (D) Illinois. “We're not going to do that. We've already had 300,000 people go online in Illinois. They wanted health insurance.”
After it was revealed the federal police are working without pay, House Republicans moved to make sure the officers get paid retroactively. Democrats agreed, but that is as close to an agreement as Washington has seen.
