NORMAL, Ill -- We're now less than three weeks away from the April 9th Consolidated Election. Some Normal residents are taking an opportunity to get to know their candidates.
The McLean County League of Women Voters along with several ISU student government groups co-sponsored a Candidates forum Wednesday night at ISU.
Residents heard from Normal Mayoral Candidates JeVaughn Martin, Victor Connor and incumbent Chris Koos.
Each of them spoke on the challenges that the community faces.
"I believe that I should be Mayor so that I could help in the development of Uptown Normal, so that I could bridge the gap that currently exists between Illinois State University, the student body and the council, and I believe that I can get people back to work," said Martin.
Connor said, "I'm fiscally responsible. The town has been spending a lot of money that most citizens are not willing to spend and it's benefiting very few of them."
"I think the town is going along very well right now. I would have to say probably the biggest challenges upon us are the economy with the State of Illinois and some of the issues that their grappling with and how that might effect municipalities," added incumbent Mayor Chris Koos.
Martin is an ISU Grad and an entertainment business owner.
Connor has been a professor and worked at IBM and State Farm.
Mayor Koos has held the seat for ten years and owns two small businesses in the community.
Again, the election is April 9th.
