Normal Town Council approves automated parking enforcement system

February 18, 2014 Updated Feb 18, 2014 at 5:43 PM CDT

NORMAL, Ill. -- The Normal City Council has approved a nearly $100,000 purchase for an automated parking enforcement system.

The technology automatically captures a license plate number and determines if it is in violation.

Once the information is confirmed, the system will generate a parking citation and upload it to a city server.

The system is expected to be in place by April.
