SPRINGFIELD, IL. -- In Springfield, the prediction Tuesday was that there'll be a big drop in tax revenue next year.
The Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability says there'll be a $1.6 Billion drop in revenue -- because the state's "temporary" income tax hike is due to disappear next January.
But, there's more.
Gambling boat revenues are declining...by over five percent last year.
"We've certainly seen something happening here. Logic dictates its probably related to video gaming. I think we're up to approximately 14-thousand terminals now..." Jim Muschinske, Comm. on Government Forecasting & Accountability .
And, there could be 20,000 video gambling terminals in the future.
Cities like Peoria and East Peoria, which get revenue from casinos could see a decline.. while communities with video-gaming could see an increase in revenue.
