PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria City Councilman William "Bill" Spears announced that he will not seek another term.
According to a release by the Fourth District Councilman, "The budget has passed, a month before it needed to be. This is a good thing. The budget is one of the most vital processes we prepare as a council. This sets the road map for next year.
The city is changing. As a city, we need new ideas and new energy. With that thought, I will not seek reelection in the Fourth District. I have served for 16 years as the councilman of this district -- much longer than I thought I would serve.
I want to thank the citizens of the Fourth District for trusting in me with the many decisions that I made on their behalf. I do know that whomever is elected as Fourth District councilperson will be the right person, because I believe the Fourth District makes good decisions."
