An odd tax on Illinois Strip Clubs has turned out to be less of a windfall that first hoped.

The so-called "pole tax" on adult clubs was supposed to raise $1 million for rape crisis centers state-wide.

Lee Newspapers is reporting that some $380,000 was raised in all of 2013.

One reason is because the tax was only on such clubs that also served alcohol exempting all of the adult clubs in the city of Chicago.
