SPRINGFIELD, IL. -- As Illinois Lawmakers get down to the wire, portions of a new state budget have been sent to the Governor's desk.
The proposed $35.4 billion general revenue fund budget avoids cuts to education and will pay off a backlog of bills for human services organizations.
The proposal also funds Medicaid and the state's pension payment for the fiscal year beginning July 1st.
Both chambers are expected to approve the final pieces of the 2014 budget package Friday.
