Tuesday, the State Commission of Government Forecast and Accountability voted to extend through the end of June, 2012 the emergency health insurance contracts currently in place for state employees.

Those temporary contracts with Health Alliance, HealthLink and Personal Care were set to expire in late September.

The extension must still be approved by the state's Chief Procurement officer and a public hearing must be held.

The problem started when the Governor's office picked insurance companies that did not serve all of Illinois.
