CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- A Quincy man wants to be central Illinois' next congressman.

On Tuesday, Rob Mellon announced that he will be running in the upcoming Democratic primary to gain a spot on the ballot to run against Republican Congressman Aaron Schock for his seat in Illinois' 18th District.

Mellon is a high school teacher at Quincy Senior High School and a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.

The primary election for that seat will take place March 18, 2014.

So far Schock has no Republican challenger in the primary.
