Kelly wins democratic nomination for Jesse Jackson Jr.'s former seat

CHICAGO, Ill.-- Robin Kelly beats out Debbie Halvorson to win the Second District Congressional primary election for the seat vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr.

Kelly is the current Cook County Chief Administrative Officer. A New York native, Robin moved to Illinois after high school to attend Bradley University, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees.

A former state legislator, she ran unsuccessfully for state Treasurer in 2010.
