BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is just one of the growing number of possible candidates rumored for the 2014 Illinois governor race.
At a press conference in Bloomington Monday, Rutherford did not shy away from the question.
"Governor is an option on the table," said Rutherford.
Rutherford touted his leadership and business experience, as well as his electability across diverse communities.
"I think what we learned out of this last election is we as Republicans did not do a good job of reaching out to communities of diversity," said Rutherford. "In 2012, for me to get the numbers that I got running for State Treasurer and the background I have in international business and understanding, yeah, I think I qualify to be the Governor of Illinois and when the time comes we are going to make the appropriate announcement."
Others rumored to be considering a run for Governor include 44th District State Senator Bill Brady and 18th District Congressman Aaron Schock.
