PEORIA, Ill. -- Eighteenth District Congressman Aaron Schock's Chief of Staff Steve Shearer is calling some anti-Schock radio and TV ads "part of a scorched Earth strategy by one candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor".

The ads are paid for by the "Jobs & Progress Fund" out of Ohio and target Schock solely for voting to get the U.S. off the fiscal cliff.

Shearer, in a statement on Facebook, all but blames Chicago businessman Bruce Rauner, who has been positioning himself for a run for Governor on the GOP ticket.

Shearer called the ads a "deceitful, invalid and erroneous attack" by an organization that operates in the shadows.
