SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – On Thursday, the Illinois Senate voted to approve a measure that would rename a stretch of Interstate 74 in Peoria to the Ray LaHood Highway.
The Peoria native played a major role in the Upgrade 74 Road Improvement Project.
The six mile honorary roadway will stretch from the Murray Baker Bridge to the Sterling Avenue exit.
The legislation was introduced by State Representative Jehan Gordon Booth and now moves to the Senate Committee.
The Illinois House passed the measure earlier in the week. It now heads to the governor’s desk.
