The Peoria County State's Attorney could be looking for a higher post.

Kevin Lyons is among seven candidates vying for a spot as a judge in the tenth judicial circuit, which includes Peoria County.

The vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Richard Grawey is expected to be filled within the next month. That person will serve until December of 2012 when someone is elected to the post.

Lyons is in his sixth term as County State's Attorney, first being elected in 1988.
