WASHINGTON, D.C. -- As Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood prepares to leave his position, a friend and fellow lawmaker is saying goodbye.
On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin spoke on the Senate floor, wishing Secretary LaHood the best after he leaves office.
Durbin said despite being one of a few Republicans in the President's cabinet, LaHood never said anything bad about the President and always worked towards bipartisanship.
"Anytime I spoke to President Obama or Vice President Biden about Ray LaHood, their Secretary of Transportation, they always said the same thing, he's the best and we're sure glad he is a part of our team,” said Sen. Durbin, (D) Illinois.
LaHood announced in January that he would be leaving his position.
Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, has been nominated for the position, but has not been confirmed.
