SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to hear an appeal from Illinois Republicans on newly drawn legislative districts.
The Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and House Minority Leader Tom Cross had filed the appeal, claiming the Democrat-drawn lines were designed solely to help Democrats.
The legislative and Congressional Districts are redrawn every ten years after the census, and by the majority party in the General Assembly.
There have been calls for a nonpartisan process for re-districting, which have never been acted on.
