PEORIA, Ill. -- State Representative Mike Unes is being honored with an award from the "Illinois Insurance Association.
The group has named him "Consumer Protection Legislator of the Year", citing his efforts to curb copper and other metal thefts in Illinois.
Under Unes' legislation passed last year, recycling dealers must record all metal purchase transactions and inform authorities if they suspect the materials are stolen.
