CENTRAL Ill.-- One of the biggest highway makeover projects in Central Illinois is one step closer to completion.

After nearly two decades of planning state funding has finally been dedicated to upgrading the interchange at Interstates 74 and 155 near Morton.

The $85 million project will expand the section of I-74 to three lanes in each direction and change the ramps to and from I-155 to run above I-74 and not below, as currently designed.

Also included in the project is the widening and repaving of several roads between Morton and East Peoria.

Bids for the project are expected to be taken one year from now with an estimated start date in Spring of 2013.
