PEORIA, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announces that pavement sealing work will take place at several Peoria area locations, beginning as early as Tuesday, May 24th. The work schedule is tentative at this point and the work is weather dependent.
-IL 40 from north of IL 6 to north of Mossville Rd.
-US 24 from Pfeiffer Rd. to Kickapoo Creek in Bartonville
-IL 40 (Knoxville Ave.) from north of Mt. Hawley Rd. to south of US 150 (War Memorial Dr.)
These will be moving operations and motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and be aware of construction vehicles while driving through these locations. Estimated completion time is one day for the first location, two days for the second location, and three days for the third location.
There will also be upcoming traffic signal work at the intersection of US 150 (Jackson St.) and Veterans Rd. in Morton from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Tuesday May 24th.
The intersection will be controlled by flashing red light signals while the work is being completed. Crews will be installing flashing yellow arrow signals at this location.
There will also be a lane closure in the eastbound and westbound driving (right) lanes on I-74 between Galesburg and Knoxville beginning Tuesday, May 24th and continuing until late August.
These closures are necessary for pavement patching and removal work.
IDOT reminds motorists to please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
