PEORIA, Ill -- The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced Monday that it will hold two identical public hearings for the planned construction of Illinois Route 336 from Interstate 474 near Peoria to Illinois Route 9 west of Canton.

The first public hearing will take place on August 21 at 4 p.m. at the ITOO Society Hall, 4909 W. Farmington Road in Peoria.  The second will take play August 22 at 4 p.m. at the Donaldson Center, 25 South Avenue D, in Canton.

IDOT says that the project has entered the design phase, but the construction of the project is not currently funded.  To ensure the right-of-way is available for construction, IDOT has initiated the Corridor Protection process.

The Corridor Protection process is a legal process used to approximate the locations and width of a potential future addition of the State Highway System, to inform the public and to prevent costly and conflicting development of the land involved.
