MORTON, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Transportation has delayed Interstate 74 lane closures scheduled for this weekend.
Earlier this week, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced they would close the left lane of both eastbound and westbound I-74 to remove a portion of the bridge that carries the interstate over Jackson Street (US 150).
The lane closures was supposed to begin Friday and last until Monday morning.
That work has been pushed back and will begin Friday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. and last until Monday, March 10 at 6:30 a.m.
Jackson Street under I-74 will be closed Sunday, March 9 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to safely remove the section of bridge.
During that time, traffic on Jefferson Street will be rerouted onto Morton Avenue, Courtland Street and Veterans Road.
