PEORIA, Ill. -- Beginning Tuesday, July 31, motorists should avoid the area of Loucks Avenue, between McClure and Sheridan.
The City of Peoria says the construction is part of the Loucks Avenue and McClure Avenue Intersection Realignment Project. As part of the project, the intersection of Loucks at McClure will be reconstructed to intersect at a traditional 90 degree angle.
Motorists traveling north should use Sheridan Road.
Short term lane closures may be in effect on McClure Avenue or Bootz Avenue. However, the city says at least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
The project is expected to be completed in mid-September.
