The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announces that the driving (right) lane of westbound I-74 at the Murray Baker Bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting Monday, October 11th and lasting approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

This is necessary for installation of fiber optic cable, conduit, and surveillance cameras in the area.

The cameras will be connected to the IDOT District Four Communications Center and will assist with high-volume traffic situations by providing instant access to visuals in that area.

In the event of a crash or any type of traffic back-up, the Communication Center staff will be able to use the visuals to immediately assess the situation and then contact police or emergency crews as well as dispatch IDOT crews to assist with the situation.
