Quinn announces new road projects in Peoria, Tazewell counties

PEORIA, Ill. -- Governor Pat Quinn announced Thursday a total of more than $2.7 million in capital investments for road projects in Peoria and Tazewell counties.

“Transportation investments create needed construction jobs for Illinois workers and will lead to safer roads for all,” Governor Quinn said.

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects which include:

· Peoria County: Replace bridge deck and I-beams on structures over Interstate 474 near Illinois Route 116 (Plank Road). Stark Excavating, Inc., Bloomington, $2,200,126. Six bids were submitted.

· Peoria County: Landscape maintenance along Interstate 74 from Ellis Street to the Illinois River in Peoria. Mott Excavating, Inc., Vienna, $118,399. Mott was the sole bidder for the project.

· Tazewell County: Install new signs for the relocation of U.S. Route 24 from Interstate 474 in Bartonville to U.S. Route 150 in East Peoria. T.M.F. Construction Company, Springfield, $417,738. Four bids were submitted.
